If you’ve landed here then the chances are that you already know exactly what Sky Sports’ Super 6 promotion is all about and you just want to get a sense of how you should tackle it. That makes sense, given the fact that there is a decent chunk of money on offer to those of you that are able to successfully predict six correct scores. We have looked at how Super 6 works and aim to give you our tips on how you can correctly take on the system that is behind it, which can also include taking on a pundit like Jamie Carragher.
None of these are guaranteed to work, of course, and anyone that tells you they can guarantee you anything is lying. This is just about offering you some thoughts and suggestions about how to think about the Super 6 promotion slightly differently to how you might be doing already. It is important to remember that you can use the genus of the tips and combine them with your own thoughts, or you can take the tips on board wholesale and go from there. It is up to you how you use them, but hopefully you find them useful.

Super 6 Tips & Predictions

How Does Super 6 Work?
It isn’t out of the realms of the possible that you have landed on this page in spite of having no real sense of how Super 6 works as a concept. If that’s the case then this is the section for you as we look to explain how it works and how you can play it. In essence, it is simply a prediction game like so many betting things in the past such as the Football Pools. You are trying to successful predict the outcome six games that are chosen by Sky Sports each week, so they aren’t games you want to predict but that they make you.
From there, you need to be able to correctly predict the outcome of all six games, which is why the promotion is called ‘Super 6’. In other words, if you think a match between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur is going to end 2-2 and it does then that will be a tick, whilst if it finished 5-2, say, then your prediction will be a losing one. As far as the main jackpot is concerned, it is a do or die scenario. That is to say, you need to have correctly predicted the outcome of all six of the games in question or else you can’t win.
What Will the Games Be?
One of the key things that you might want to know is which six games are going to be selected for the Super 6 promotion. The answer isn’t an easy one to give, with Sky Sports effectively looking to pick them at random. The reality, though, is a little more complex than that. More often than not, Sky will pick six Premier League games for you to predict, but it isn’t entirely unusual for them to opt for a Football League game or two instead. This means that you will have a vague sense of which matches it is likely to be but not a precise one.
Of course, this doesn’t necessarily change much about how the promotion works. You will still need to work out the correct score for each of the matches if you’re hoping to win. You also tend to have plenty of time to look at the matches and work things out as well, so it’s not like you’ll be getting in ahead of time if you’re able to find out with even more advance notice which of the games you will be asked to place predictions on. The only thing we can tell you with any degree of certainty is that there will be six games chosen.
Can You Win Anything Else?
You might be wondering if you can win anything other than just the jackpot when it comes to the Super 6 promotion. The short answer is that yes, you can. Although the major jackpot is what most people will be entering Super 6 for, it obviously isn’t won every week and so there are other things that you can hope to pick up on. There is usually a prize available to the highest-scoring player when the jackpot isn’t hit. You win points according to your predictions, with the following being the points that are on offer:
- Correct Score: 5 points
- Correct Result: 2 points
In other words, you could get every single scoreline incorrect but correctly predict that there will be three home wins, two away wins and a draw and find yourself with 12 points to show for the action. It is extremely unlikely that that will be enough to win you the secondary prize, but it also isn’t totally out of the equation if it’s a period of completely mad results. There are also other competitions to play for over the course of a week, a month and the whole season, so the better you do each week the more chance you have of winning one of them.
There’s Also a Tiebreaker
We now know that there are six games that you need to predict the outcome of, but what we haven’t explained is that there is also a tiebreaker. Each time you enter your scores for the promotion, you will also be asked what time you think the first goal will be scored of the game week that the Super 6 promotion is focussed on. This is used to separate any people who might be aligned when it comes to the number of points they have won during that game week, with the Golden Goal also used for other competitions.
Imagine during the course of a season, for example, that you have managed to wrack up exactly the same number of points as someone else, as well as an identical number of Correct Scores and the same number of Correct Results, even if you have both got there via a different method. At that point, the Golden Goal will be used to separate you from one another in order to decide the winner. Over the course of a season, your Golden Goal guesses can be used to see which one of you will have been the closest more often.
The Literal Way it Works
The beauty of the Super 6 is that it is really easy to understand and work out how it works, even if you have never really done such a competition before. You are presented with the six matches, at which point you use the plus button next to each team to decide how many goals you think they will score. If you think you have added too many goals, you can use the minus button to remove a goal. Once you have decided upon the correct score for each match and you have put your Golden Goal answer in, you press ‘Submit My Entry’.
In its simplest essence, that is it. We could tell you all about doing a load of research into each team in order to see how your prediction should go, or we could go into detail about the kinds of things you need to weigh up before entering your guesses, all of which is important, but at the end of the day it is just about putting your selections onto your Super 6 form and entering it in time. After that, there are any number of things that can influence the outcome of a game that you can do nothing about, so don’t stress it.
Why do Sky Offer Super 6?
It isn’t outrageous to wonder why it is that Sky Sports offer the Super 6 promotion, especially when you consider the amount of money on offer. The answer comes in the form of the link between Sky Sports and Sky Bet, in spite of protestations from the company that there isn’t a link. When you have posted your selections, you will be presented with a screen that tells you what the odds on each result would be if you placed a bet on it with Sky Bet. The hope is that enough people do precisely that.
There are many people out there who will feel confident enough about their guesses to place a wager with Sky Bet, which will see Sky Bet make significantly more money through bets people lose than they will give away courtesy of Super 6. As a result, the best thing that you can do is to avoid placing a bet with Sky Bet if you don’t want to potentially lose any money. If you are confident in your predictions, though, or you’d like to bet on the Over/Under market, the Full-Time Result or the Both Teams to Score option, you can do.
General Super 6 Hints
We have already given you our specific tips for Super 6, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t also offer you more general ones. These are applicable every week, regardless of which matches are chosen as part of the Super 6 promotion. The key thing to remember is that it is a really difficult competition to win, which is why Sky can offer so much money to those that manage to pull it off. You can do all the research in the world, but it is still going to come down to so many variables that it will hurt your brain to think about them.
One of the key things that you should know is that the internet boasts a wealth of information that you can dig down into on each and every team that is playing in a game that has been chosen for the Super 6. This means that you can sit down and look at the stats for each team, explore how many players are out injured or whether there are rumours about the captain’s wife having had a baby, say, and take it into account when you’re making your selections. Ultimately, it’s about giving yourself the best chance of winning.
Super 6 Give Research For You
If you have never played Super 6 before, you might not realise just how much research is done for you by Sky. When you load up the page to enter your predictions, you will notice four boxes underneath, which are as follows:
- Stats
- Pundits
- Popular
- Bets
Here is what each of them will tell you:
Stats
Click on the Stats button to see the previous five results for each team in all competitions, including whether they were playing at home or away and what the final score was.
Pundits
Everyone knows that pundits are generally clueless, but if you want to know what, say, Jamie Carragher and the Super 6 Admin think the final score will be, this is the tab that will tell you.
Popular
Ultimately, you don’t really want to follow the crowd if you’re hoping to win the Super 6 on your own, but if you’re wondering what everyone else is thinking then the Popular tab will tell you. It might say that 56% of people have gone for a home win, for example, whilst 31% have opted for the draw and 13% have chosen the away win.
Bets
On the Bets tab, you will be able to see the odds on your chosen Full-Time Result, your Chosen Score and the 1st Goalscorer odds.
