Football Tips – July 2021

3rd Jul 2021

17:00 - Czech Republic v Denmark

Denmark to Win by One Goal @ 11/4

Czech Republic and Denmark clash in a UEFA Euro 2020 quarter-final at the Olympic Stadium in Baku on Saturday. For all the hype about Group F – the so-called Group of Death – all those teams are now out and it’s left to these two slightly less lauded sides to battle it out for a place in the semi-finals. Although not the most glamorous of ties on paper, both sides deserve to be in the last eight and will no doubt put on a show in Azerbaijan. After dismantling Wales in the Round of 16, Kasper Hjulmand’s Danes are the clear favourites in this one.

The Czechs caused an upset in the previous round, knocking out Netherlands with a 2-0 win in Budapest. That came after a decent draw against Croatia, a win against Scotland and a narrow defeat to England in Group D. As for Denmark, after the drama of the Christian Eriksen incident in their opener against Finland (which they lost 1-0 when it restarted), they have come on leaps and bounds. Though they narrowly lost to Belgium, they hammered Russia 4-1 to secure their place in the last 16. Then they walloped Wales 4-0 at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam to make it to the quarters. Both teams have done extremely well to reach this stage of the competition, but we fancy the Danes to edge past the Czechs in Baku. As such we’ll be taking a punt on Denmark to win by one goal at decent odds of 11/4.

3rd Jul 2021

20:00 - Ukraine v England

England HT/FT @ 11/10

Gareth Southgate’s England make the trip to Rome this Saturday night to face Andriy Shevchenko’s Ukraine in a UEFA Euro 2020 quarter-final. The Three Lions are away from home for the first time in the tournament, but with the semi-finals and final both taking place at Wembley Stadium, England will fancy their chances of going all the way if they can get past the Ukrainians this weekend.

Ukraine snuck into the last 16 as the fourth-best third-place team in the group stage having earned just three points. The only side they managed to beat was North Macedonia, who were hardly one of the sides tipped for success at the Euros. Shevchenko’s side then edged past Sweden in Glasgow in midweek in a scrappy and bad-tempered encounter. England, meanwhile, finally got the better of old foes Germany in a knockout game, winning 2-0 at Wembley thanks to efforts from Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane. It was an assured display from Southgate’s men and – for one against Germany – they looked in control for large parts of the game. England are in red-hot form and are yet to concede a goal at the tournament so we fancy they should ease past Ukraine in Rome. You can odds of 11/10 get for Southgate’s troops to be winning at half time and full time, which looks a good bet to us.

6th Jul 2021

20:00 - Italy v Spain

Italy to Win by One Goal @ 3/1

The first semi-final of UEFA Euro 2020 will take place at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday night when Italy and Spain lock horns in what promises to be a cracking match between two of the heavyweights of the tournament. The Italians have looked very strong all tournament, while the Spaniards took their time before blossoming. With a place in the Euros final up for grabs, this semi promises to be a tense one between two outstanding teams.

Roberto Mancini’s men picked up nine points out of nine in the group stage before narrow knockout wins over Austria and Belgium. Gli Azzurri are unbeaten across all competitions since a 1-0 UEFA Nations League defeat to Portugal way back in September 2018. After a slow start, Spain are starting to look much more like themselves, netting 11 goals in their last three games. They would have liked to have got past Switzerland without extra time and penalties and the extra exertion might well come back to haunt them. This semi-final promises to be a very intriguing watch but we fancy in-form Italy to nick the victory. Check out the solid odds of 3/1 for the Italians to win by one goal on Tuesday evening.

7th Jul 2021

20:00 - England v Denmark

England to Win to Nil @ 8/5

The 50th match of UEFA Euro 2020 will be Wednesday’s mouth-watering semi-final between England and Denmark at Wembley Stadium. Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions are in stunning form and look the real deal for once at a tournament. They have kept five clean sheets so far and after thumping Ukraine 4-0 in the quarters confidence in the camp with be sky high. The Danes will be formidable opponents at Wembley, and are high on confidence themselves, but the English are the clear favourites on home soil.

England have been tough to break down in recent games, winning six and drawing one of the last seven without shipping a single goal. The defensive midfield pairing of Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips has worked a treat for Southgate so far this tournament, giving the more creative players ahead of them the freedom to express themselves. The Danes, meanwhile, kicked off their tournament with two defeats before sneaking into the knockouts on three points. They then dismantled Wales and edged past Czech Republic. Denmark beat England at Wembley when they last met but Southgate’s troops should be too far strong in this Euro semi-final. Back the hosts to win to nil again at decent odds of 8/5.

10th Jul 2021

01:00 - Argentina v Brazil

Brazil Win & BTTS @ 9/2

The Euros final isn’t the only high-class final taking place at the weekend. Rivals Argentina and Brazil lock horns in the 2021 Copa America final in Rio de Janeiro in the early hours of Sunday morning (UK time). The Brazilians have been the red-hot favourites to win the tournament on home soil from the very start, but this final at the Maracana could go either way. This will be the first meeting between these South American giants since November 2019.

Argentina finished top of Group A (South Zone), winning three and drawing one of their four games. Lionel Scaloni’s side then beat Ecuador and Colombia in the knockouts. Tite’s Brazil also picked up 10 points from a possible 12 in the group. The hosts then beat Chile in the quarters and Peru in the semis. This will surely be close on the scoreline, but we are backing the Brazilians to prevail on home turf. You can get odds of 9/2 for the Brazil win and both teams to score, which looks good value to us.

11th Jul 2021

20:00 - Italy v England

England to Win by One Goal @ 15/4

Italy and England meet in the UEFA Euro 2020 final at Wembley Stadium this Sunday. This will be the Three Lions’ first ever European Championship final appearance and their first final since winning the FIFA World Cup way back in 1966. Both nations won gruelling semi-finals and fully deserve their spots in Sunday’s showpiece event, but who will be crowned Euro 2020 winners?

Italy have been strong in the championship, though they needed extra time to beat Austria in the Round of 16 and penalties to see off Spain last time out. Though they did beat the highly rated Belgium 2-1 in the quarter final. England, meanwhile, conceded their first tournament goal in their 2-1 semi-final win over Denmark on Wednesday. Southgate’s men had to come from behind and couldn’t finish the job until extra time, but they looked strong in the closing stages and confidence will be sky-high. Three of the last five meetings between Italy and England have ended in draws (in normal time), and this will no doubt be another tight affair. However, based partly on the home advantage we are backing the Three Lions to get the job done in 90 minutes. There is good value in the English to win by one goal at odds of 15/4, and that’s the bet for us.

13th Jul 2021

18:45 - Linfield v Zalgiris Vilnius

Zalgiris Vilnius Win & BTTS @ 3/1

David Healy’s Linfield welcome Lithuanian outfit Zalgiris Vilnius to Windsor Park in Belfast this Tuesday for a UEFA Champions League qualifier. After a 3-1 loss at LFF Stadium last week, the NIFL Premiership champions have it all to do on their own patch. Zalgiris are the overwhelming favourites to go through and are fancied to win in the 90 minutes on the night.

Goals from Hugo Videmont and Tomislav Kis put Vilnius 2-0 up on their own patch last week. Christy Manzinga pulled one back for Linfield, but Jakub Sylvestr’s goal in the 67th minute restored the home team’s two-goal lead. We can see as similar kind of outcome at Windsor Park on Tuesday night. Check out the tempting odds of 3/1 for the away side to win and both teams to score.

13th Jul 2021

19:00 - Shamrock Rovers v Slovan Bratislava

Slovan Bratislava to Win to Nil @ 12/5

Shamrock Rovers and Slovan Bratislava square off in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League first qualifying round tie on Tuesday night. Coming out on top in this two-legged affair was always going to be a tough test for the League of Ireland Premier Division champions, but after a 2-0 loss in Slovakia in the first leg, Stephen Bradley’s Hoops have a huge mountain to climb.

Bratislava were pretty comfortable at Tehelne pole last week. Goals either side of half time from Brazilian forward Rafael Ratao gave the Slovakian champions a deserved 2-0 home win. There is plenty of fighting spirit in this Rovers team, but overhauling a 2-0 deficit will be an arduous task. Slovan will be looking for a clean sheet in Dublin, and the away side are priced at odds of 12/5 to win to nil which looks a decent bet to us.

13th Jul 2021

19:45 - Hearts v Cove Rangers

Hearts to Win -2 Goals @ 6/4

Robbie Nielson’s Hearts go head-to-head with Paul Hartley’s Cove Rangers at Tynecastle Park in a Scottish League Cup matchup on Tuesday night. Hearts are currently top of Group A after a 2-0 win at Peterhead last weekend. Last term’s Scottish Championship winners will be hoping to make it six points from a possible six with an easy home victory on Tuesday.

Before their Scottish Premiership season kicks off against Celtic at the end of the month, Hearts’ full attention will be on the League Cup. After the midweek encounter, they face Stirling and Inverness Caledonian Thistle before the new league campaign gets underway. Cove lost 3-2 at home to Stirling last time out, and Hartley’s troops are the big underdogs at Tynecastle. Back the home team to win with a -2 goal handicap at the tempting odds of 6/4.

13th Jul 2021

19:45 - Dundee v Brora Rangers

Dundee HT/FT @ 4/11

Dundee and Brora Rangers square off at Dens Park in a Scottish League Cup Group C match on Tuesday night. The Scottish Premiership new boys will want to get their campaign up and running with an easy three points in the cup. With Brora currently plying their trade in the Highland League, the Dees are the massive favourites in this one.

Dundee had a fine season in the Scottish Championship last time around, collecting 45 points and finishing runners-up to Hearts. The Dark Blues won five of their last six matches last term, beating Raith and Kilmarnock in the play-offs. We fancy James McPake’s men to kick off this season with a handsome home win in the cup. You can get odds of 4/11 for the hosts to be winning at half time and full time, which is just about worth grabbing in our eyes.

14th Jul 2021

19:45 - Dundee United v Elgin City

Dundee United to Win Both Halves @ 6/4

Dundee United and Elgin City meet at Tannadice Park for a Scottish League Cup match on Wednesday night. United opened up Group B with a hard-fought 1-0 away win at Kelty Hearts. As for Elgin, they were beaten 1-0 at home by Arbroath. Tam Courts’ boys will put one foot in the second round with three points on their own patch in midweek.

It was a tight and tense affair at New Central Park in Kelty on Friday night, but Lawrence Shankland spared the Terrors’ blushes with a 77th-minute winner. Gavin Price’s Black and Whites were narrowly beaten at home, with Luke Donnelly scoring 10 minutes from time to give Arbroath a 1-0 victory at Borough Briggs. Dundee United should be too strong for their visitors and you can get odds of 6/4 for the home side to win both halves of this one.

14th Jul 2021

19:45 - Queen’s Park v Motherwell

Motherwell Win & BTTS @ 15/8

Laurie Ellis’s Queen’s Park welcome Graham Alexander’s Motherwell to Firhill Stadium on Wednesday in the Scottish League Cup. After a 1-0 victory at Queen of the South in their opening Group F fixture, the Glasgow club would move on to six points with a win on their own patch in midweek. However, Motherwell head to Firhill Stadium as the heavy favourites with the bookies.

A Calum Biggar goal nine minutes into the second period at Palmerston Park in Dumfries on Saturday was enough to give Queen’s Park a 1-0 victory over Queen of the South. This will be Motherwell’s first game of the season and Alexander’s men will want to kick their 2021-22 campaign off with a solid League Cup success. There is good value in the Motherwell win and both teams to score at odds of 15/8.

17th Jul 2021

01:30 - Suriname v Costa Rica

Costa Rica HT/FT @ 8/11

The Euros might already be a fading memory, but the CONCACAF Gold Cup is currently taking place and on Saturday (UK time) Suriname and Costa Rica lock horns in a Group C match in Orlando’s Exploria Stadium. The Costa Ricans opened up with a comfortable win over Guadeloupe earlier in the week, while Suriname were beaten by Jamaica. As you would expect, Costa Rica – who made it to the quarter-finals of the World Cup in 2014 and who have won this competition three times – are the overwhelming favourites to make it six points out of six.

Luis Fernando Suarez’s side cruised to three points in game one. Joel Campbell, Ariel Lassiter and Celso Borges were on target in a 3-1 win over Guadeloupe in Orlando. On the same day, Dean Gorre’s Suriname started Group C with a 2-0 loss to Jamaica at Exploria Stadium. We fancy Costa Rica to secure another easy Gold Cup win here. Put some money on the Costa Ricans to be winning at half time and full time at favourable odds of 8/11.

18th Jul 2021

00:30 - Grenada v Qatar

Qatar to Win to Nil @ 4/11

Grenada and Qatar square off at BBVA Stadium in Houston, Texas for a CONCACAF Gold Cup fixture. And if you were wondering why Qatar are present in a tournament for teams of the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football, it’s because they’ve been invited to help them prepare for the World Cup they are hosting next year. So, now that’s straightened out, back to this game. And after one round of matches in Group D, Honduras lead the way, while Panama and Qatar have one point each. Victory for the Asian side would take them a step closer to the knockout stage, and Felix Sanchez’s troops are the clear favourites with the bookies.

Grenada were hammered by Honduras in their opening game, crashing to a 4-0 defeat at BBVA Stadium, and they will do very well to recover from that to get anything from this game. Qatar were involved in a six-goal thriller with Panama, meanwhile, and showed glimpses of being a side on the up. The Maroon led three times but ended up with just a single point in the bag. Qatar are the heavy favourites in this one, and Sanchez’s men will be targeting an easy win in Texas. You can get the very reasonable price of 4/11 for Qatar to win to nil.

18th Jul 2021

02:30 - Panama v Honduras

Honduras to Win -1 Goal @ 3/1

Thomas Christiansen’s Panama and Fabian Coito’s Honduras do battle at BBVA Stadium in a vital CONCACAF Gold Cup Group D fixture. The Hondurans already have one foot in the knockout stage of the tournament after a convincing victory in round one. As for the Panamanians, they drew 3-3 in a six-goal thriller with Qatar in their opener.

Honduras dominated their game with Grenada in Houston a few days back, with Jerry Bengtson, Edwin Solano, Johnny Leveron and Romell Quioto all on the scoresheet in the 4-0 romp. Panama came from behind on three occasions to draw with Qatar in their opening Gold Cup encounter. The Hondurans will fancy their chances of getting the win and moving on to six points. Honduras to win with a -1 goal handicap at BBVA Stadium has caught the eye at odds of 3/1.

20th Jul 2021

19:30 - Rapid Vienna v Sparta Prague

Draw & BTTS @ 3/1

Rapid Vienna and Sparta Prague meet in a UEFA Champions League qualifier this Tuesday with both sides fancying their chances of progressing. The first leg of this second qualifying round tie will take place at the Allianz Stadion in Austria, with the second leg being played in Prague eight days later. The home team are the slight favourites with the bookies, but there is hardly anything to split these two.

Rapid finished second in the regular Austrian Bundesliga last term, seven points behind champions Red Bull Salzburg. As for Sparta, they finished runners-up to rivals Slavia Prague in the 2020-21 Czech First League. Both teams will be looking for a positive result in this one, but not losing could be the most important factor for the pair. Put some money on the draw and both teams to score at the decent price of 3/1.

20th Jul 2021

19:30 - Stenhousemuir v St Mirren

St Mirren to Win to Nil @ 10/11

Stenhousemuir and St Mirren clash at Ochilview Park in a Scottish League Cup match on Tuesday night. Jim Goodwin’s Buddies have taken six points from a possible six so far and look a good bet to reach the second round. Stenhousemuir could do with a win after a narrow home loss to Partick Thistle last time out. Can Stenny cause a huge upset on home soil?

After being awarded a 3-0 win in their opening game, St Mirren picked up another three points with a 1-0 victory over Dunfermline last Tuesday, with Curtis Main scoring the only goal of the game. The Scottish Premiership side are the overwhelming favourites in this one, and they should be too strong for the League Two outfit. Have a punt on the visitors to win to nil at odds of 10/11.

20th Jul 2021

19:45 - Celtic v Midtjylland

Celtic to Win by One Goal @ 13/5

Celtic’s 2021-22 season gets underway this Tuesday night when they welcome Danish side Midtjylland to Celtic Park for a UEFA Champions League qualifier. This will be Ange Postecoglou’s first game in charge since taking over in Glasgow back in June. The Bhoys will be hoping to make a positive start to the campaign and to take a decent lead to the second leg in Herning in a week’s time.

After watching rivals Rangers dominate the Scottish Premiership last term, this is a huge season for the Hoops. The Bhoys will be hoping to be safely through to the third qualifying round of the Champions League before their league season gets underway at Hearts on 31st July. This first leg could be close on the scoreline, but we fancy Celtic to nick a narrow win on home turf. Back the Celts to win by one goal at a decent price of 13/5.

20th Jul 2021

19:45 - Stirling Albion v Hearts

Hearts to Win -1 Goal @ 4/7

Kevin Rutkiewicz’s Stirling Albion and Robbie Neilson’s Hearts square off at Forthbank Stadium this Tuesday in a Scottish League Cup affair. At the time of writing, the pair are the top two in North Group A, with Hearts taking six points from two games thus far, while Stirling have five points to their name. The Scottish Championship champions are the big favourites in this one.

Stirling won 3-2 at Cove Rangers in game one before beating Inverness Caledonian Thistle on penalties to add another two points to their tally. Premiership new boys Hearts have looked solid so far, winning 2-0 at Peterhead and beating Cove Rangers 3-0 at Tynecastle Park. We fancy Nielson’s troops to move on to nine points on Tuesday. Put a few quid on the away team to win with a -1 goal handicap at odds of 4/7.

21st Jul 2021

18:00 - Malmo v HJK Helsinki

Malmo to Win 2-1 @ 15/2

Malmo and Helsinki do battle at the Eleda Stadion on Wednesday night in a UEFA Champions League qualifier. Both teams have been playing regularly in their domestic leagues since April, and we should be in for two competitive games over the next week. Malmo are the clear favourites, but can Helsinki cause an upset in Sweden on Wednesday?

Malmo won the 2020 Allsvenskan, finishing nine points clear at the top. The club will be looking for their 25th Allsvenskan title this year. They are currently top of the table after eight wins from 12 games. Helsinki are also top of their league, and Toni Koskela’s boys could give the Swedish side one or two problems here. Helsinki will play their part, but our money is going on a narrow home victory. The 2-1 Malmo win at odds of 15/2 has caught the eye and looks worth a punt.

21st Jul 2021

19:00 - Dinamo Zagreb v Omonia Nicosia

Dinamo Zagreb HT/FT @ Evens

Damir Krznar’s Dinamo Zagreb welcome Henning Berg’s Omonia to the Stadion Maksimir on Wednesday night. Dinamo are the clear favourites to win this UEFA Champions League qualifying tie. This two-legged affair is part of the Champions League qualifying Champions Path, as Dinamo won the Prva HNL last term, while Omonia finished top of the Cypriot First Division.

The Croatian champions kicked off their league campaign with a shock home loss to Slaven last Friday. However, they did beat Reykjavik home and away in the first qualifying round of the Champions League earlier in the month. Omonia could find it tough going in the Croatian capital in midweek. Zagreb will be desperate to bounce back after their shock league defeat, and we like the look of the hosts to be winning at half time and full time at odds of evens.

21st Jul 2021

20:00 - PSV Eindhoven v Galatasaray

Draw & BTTS @ 7/2

One of the standout ties from the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round will see PSV Eindhoven and Galatasaray lock horns for a place in the third round. The first leg of this mouth-watering tie will take place at the Philips Stadion in Eindhoven this Wednesday. Next week, the second leg will be played in the Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadium in Istanbul.

PSV, who finished second in the Eredivisie last term, are the odds-on favourites to win this first leg. Roger Schmidt’s side would love to take a lead to Turkey, but we fancy Galatasaray to leave Holland with a draw in midweek. The Yellow-Reds finished runners-up in the Super Lig last season and will be no pushovers in this tie. The draw and both teams to score in nicely priced at odds of 7/2.

22nd Jul 2021

09:00 - Mexico v France

France to Win by One Goal @ 5/2

Mexico and France lock horns in Group A of the men’s football tournament at the 2020 Summer Olympics. This will be the opening match of the group at the Tokyo Stadium. Sylvain Ripoll will take charge of the French team at this summer’s Games and Les Blues have a young and exciting squad. However, Jaime Lozano’s troops could be tough opponents for France in Tokyo.

Mexico won gold at the 2012 Olympics in London and Tricolor have been in decent form of late. France have incredible strength in depth, with the experienced heads of Andre-Pierre Gignac and Florian Thauvin in their Olympic squad. This could be close, but we fancy Ripoll’s boys to start Group A in Tokyo with a narrow victory. You can get odds of 5/2 for France to win this by one goal.

22nd Jul 2021

12:00 - Japan v South Africa

Japan HT/FT @ 10/11

Hajime Moriyasu’s Japan and David Notoane’s South Africa go head-to-head at Tokyo Stadium in Group A of the men’s football tournament at the 2020 Summer Olympics. With Mexico and France also in the group, only three points will do for the tournament hosts. The Japanese are the clear favourites to get the win on home soil, with the bookies pricing them at odds of just 2/9.

All eyes will be on Moriyasu’s side as they look to open up their home tournament with an important three points. The South Africans are without doubt the weakest link in Group A, and Japan should have no problems in this one. The Japanese could start with a comfortable victory, and there is decent value in the odds of 10/11 for the host nation to be winning at half time and full time in Tokyo Stadium.

22nd Jul 2021

12:30 - Brazil v Germany

Draw & BTTS @ 7/2

One of the standout men’s football group games at the 2020 Summer Olympics is the Brazil versus Germany affair at the International Stadium Yokohama. The squads may look a little different, but both proud nations will be gunning for all three points from this mouth-watering Group D opener. The Brazilians, who will be managed by Andre Jardine, are the bookies’ favourites.

Brazil won the tournament at the 2016 Summer Olympics on home soil and Seleção are one of the favourites to lift the trophy in Japan. Under-21 boss Stefan Kuntz is the new name in the German dugout for the Olympics, though Hansi Flick has replaced the long-serving Joachim Low after UEFA Euro 2020 as the main national team coach. A point apiece would not be a bad result for either side, and we like the look of the draw and both teams to score in this one at odds of 7/2.

25th Jul 2021

00:30 - Qatar v El Salvador

Qatar Win @ 4/5

Qatar and El Salvador clash at State Farm Stadium in Arizona this weekend in a 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup quarter-final. Qatar have had a good tournament in the United States so far, winning two and drawing one, as they hope to build ahead of a home World Cup next year where simply avoiding embarrassment will probably be the main goal. As for El Salvador, they followed Mexico through to the last eight as Group A runners-up. Who will book their spot in the Gold Cup semi-finals?

After an enthralling 3-3 draw with Panama in their opening game, Qatar sealed their passage through to the last eight with a thumping 4-0 win over Grenada and an equally impressive 2-0 victory over Honduras. El Salvador won their opening two without conceding before narrowly losing to the Mexicans in game three. This quarter could go either way, but we fancy Felix Sanchez’s men to squeeze through. The Qatar victory is available at decent enough odds of 4/5.

25th Jul 2021

03:00 - Mexico v Honduras

Mexico to Win to Nil @ 13/10

We have reached the quarter-final stage of the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup in the United States. This weekend, Gerardo Martino’s Mexico take on Fabian Coito’s Honduras at State Farm Stadium in Glendale for a place in the last four. The Mexicans are the current favourites to win the competition at best odds of just 6/4, and they should ease past the Hondurans in Arizona.

Mexico are the dominant power in this competition and they impressed in the group stage, beating Guatemala and El Salvador after opening up with a 0-0 draw with Trinidad and Tobago. Martino’s men are the only team in the competition yet to concede a single goal and they give up very few chances. Honduras finished runners-up to Qatar in Group D, winning two and losing one of their three games. That was a solid performance but they face a huge step up in class here. Our money is going on in-form Mexico to win to nil again, which is nicely priced at 13/10.

25th Jul 2021

09:00 - France v South Africa

France to Win by Two Goals @ 11/4

France and South Africa lock horns at Saitama Stadium 2002 this weekend in a 2020 Summer Olympics Group A encounter. After opening up with a heavy defeat to Mexico in the Japanese capital, Sylvain Ripoll’s men will be desperate to strike back with a massive three points here. The South Africans also started their tournament with a loss, although it was by a finer margin. Despite that and not surprisingly, the French are the huge favourites and we fully expect them to record a routine win here.

France were poor against the Mexicans, with Jaime Lozano’s boys picking up a big 4-1 win in Tokyo to fire themselves to the top of the group. South Africa were beaten 1-0 by hosts Japan, which was actually not too bad a result. Les Bleus have talent glittered throughout their young team, and Ripoll’s boys should bounce back with a big three points in this one. Check out the decent price of 11/4 for France to win by a margin of exactly two goals in Saitama.

25th Jul 2021

09:30 - Brazil v Ivory Coast

Brazil to Win -2 Goals @ 7/4

Andre Jardine’s Brazil and Soualiho Haidara’s Ivory Coast lock horns at the International Stadium Yokohama this Sunday in a 2020 Summer Olympics Group D fixture. The Brazilians kicked off their campaign with an impressive win against Stefan Kuntz’s Germany. The tournament favourites will be looking for three points here and a place in the knockout stages and it is hard to look past them delivering the goods once again.

Everton’s Richarlison was on fire in Brazil’s 4-2 win over the Germans in the week, netting a hat-trick in Yokohama – Bayer Leverkusen’s Paulinho got the other. Richarlison’s rapid treble came within the first half hour of the game and really put the match to bed early doors. Ivory Coast edged past Saudi Arabia in their opening fixture, with Franck Kessie netting the winner midway through the second period. Unfortunately for Haidara’s boys, we fancy Brazil to pick up a big win in the International Stadium Yokohama. Put some money on the Brazilians to win -2 at 7/4.

25th Jul 2021

11:30 - Australia v Spain

Draw @ 15/4

At the 2020 Summer Olympics (like Euro 2020, they have kept the anachronistic name for the games) this Sunday, Australia and Spain go head-to-head in a Group C affair. The Australians lead the way at the top after an impressive victory over Argentina last time out. As for the Spaniards, they failed to break down Egypt in an eventual goalless draw in Sapporo. Who will come out on top in this huge encounter at Sapporo Dome this weekend?

Goals from Lachlan Wales and Marco Tilio gave Graham Arnold’s team an excellent 2-0 win over Argentina in game one. Three points on Sunday will put Australia through to the knockout stages but they may well be content to pick up a draw. Spain were held to a frustrating draw by the Egyptians on Thursday, and this will no doubt be another tough game for Luis de la Fuente’s side. The stalemate in this one is available at the tempting price of 15/4, long odds considering how the first matches played out.

27th Jul 2021

12:00 - Canada Women v Great Britain Women

Great Britain Win @ Evens

The Great Britain women’s football team are already safely through to the knockout stages of the 2020 Summer Olympics football tournament. Hege Riise’s ladies have been supremely solid so far, taking six points from a possible six without conceding a single goal. This Tuesday, Great Britain take on Bev Priestman’s Canada at Kashima Stadium. A point will see the Brits go through as Group E winners.

Great Britain kicked off their competition with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Chile, with goal-machine Ellen White netting both. White was on target again as the Brits beat hosts Japan 1-0 in Sapporo. Riise’s girls will now want to go on and win the group with victory over the Canadians on Tuesday. Great Britain are nicely priced at evens to get the win and move on to nine points.

27th Jul 2021

17:00 - HJK v Malmo

Malmo Win & BTTS @ 3/1

Helsinki and Malmo go head-to-head on Tuesday in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League qualifier. The Swedes picked up a narrow 2-1 victory in Malmo last week, leaving this tie delicately poised as we head to Bolt Arena in Helsinki. Malmo are the clear favourites, but can the hosts cause an upset and turn the tie on its head?

It was a tight affair at Eleda Stadion last Wednesday. An Antonio Colak goal on the stroke of half time put Jon Dahl Tomasson’s Sky Blue a goal up. Roope Riski levelled for the visitors well into the second period, though Anders Christiansen netted the winner for the home team just six minutes later. We fancy a similar outcome here, so put some money on the Malmo win and both teams to score at odds of 3/1.

27th Jul 2021

17:00 - Omonia v Dinamo Zagreb

Dinamo Zagreb to Win to Nil @ 2/1

Henning Berg’s Omonia entertain Damir Krznar’s Dinamo Zagreb at GSP Stadium in a UEFA Champions League qualifier on Tuesday night. Dinamo picked up a comfortable 2-0 victory on their own patch last week in the first leg, putting one foot in the third qualifying round in the process. The Croatian champions will be looking to get the job done in Cyprus on Tuesday evening.

Omonia made Zagreb work for their win in the first leg, with Dinamo’s breakthrough at the Stadion Maksimir not coming until the 65th minute. Kristijan Jakic doubled Zagreb’s advantage nine minutes from time, which could have taken the tie away from the Cypriots. The Croatian outfit should be too strong for Omonia in Strovolos in the second leg in midweek. Back Zagreb to win to nil again at the decent odds of 2/1.

28th Jul 2021

12:00 - Spain v Argentina

Spain to Win -1 Goal @ 5/2

In Group C at the men’s football tournament at the 2020 Summer Olympics, Spain and Argentina square off at the Saitama Stadium 2002 on Wednesday. The Spaniards have not quite been at their best so far, but Luis de la Fuente’s side lead the way in Group C on four points. The group is tight as Australia and Argentina have three points, while Egypt are bottom with one point to their name.

Spain kicked off their tournament with a frustrating 0-0 draw with Egypt. They were heading for another goalless draw in game two, but Mikel Oyarzabal netted nine minutes from time to give La Roja a 1-0 victory over the Aussies. Argentina were beaten by Australia before securing a 1-0 win over Egypt to get off the mark. Spain are the favourites, and there is good value in the odds of 5/2 for the Spaniards to win with a -1 goal handicap.

28th Jul 2021

12:30 - France v Japan

Japan to Win by One Goal @ 3/1

France and Japan lock horns in a crucial game at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Japan have won both of their matches so far and sit proudly at the top of Group A. However, with Mexico and France on three points each, the tournament hosts are not through just yet. The Japanese are the slight favourites, but can the French leave Yokohama with a vital three points?

After an embarrassing 4-1 loss to Mexico in game one, Les Bleus bounced back with a 4-3 win over South Africa, with their winner coming in the 93rd minute. Japan have been solid so far, beating South Africa 1-0 and Mexico 2-1. It could go either way at International Stadium Yokohama, but we fancy Japan to nick the win on their own patch. The hosts to win by one is priced at odds of 3/1.

28th Jul 2021

18:45 - Midtjylland v Celtic

Midtjylland Win & BTTS @ 3/1

Ange Postecoglou takes his Celtic troops to the MCH Arena in Herning, Denmark on Wednesday night to face Bo Henriksen’s Midtjylland in a vital UEFA Champions League qualifier. The Hoops have work to do after only managing a 1-1 draw on home soil last week. Can the Scottish giants get the job done in Denmark?

New signing Liel Abada gave Celtic a lead six minutes before the break at Celtic Park. Unfortunately for Postecoglou and his Bhoys, the Glasgow club failed to hold on to what would have been a priceless victory. In the 66th minute, Evander levelled for the Danish Superliga side. This could be close, but our money is going on the hosts to prevail. You can get the tempting price of 3/1 for the home victory and both teams to score.

28th Jul 2021

19:00 - Galatasaray v PSV Eindhoven

PSV Eindhoven Win @ 6/5

After a thumping first leg victory over Galatasaray, PSV Eindhoven have pretty much booked their spot in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round. The Turks will be playing for pride at the Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadium in Istanbul, but PSV are the favourites to win the second leg. An early goal for the home team could make things interesting but overhauling a four-goal deficit will take some serious doing.

Eindhoven ran riot on their own patch in front of almost 25,000 fans last week. Eran Zahavi was their main man, with the Israeli netting a hat-trick. Former Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich man Mario Goetz helped himself to two goals in the 5-1 win. PSV will fancy their chances of picking up another comprehensive victory in Istanbul on Wednesday. The away team are available at 6/5 to win this second leg, which looks a decent price to us.

28th Jul 2021

19:30 - Sparta Prague v Rapid Vienna

Draw @ 11/4

Sparta Prague and Rapid Vienna do battle at the Stadion Letna in a UEFA Champions League qualifier on Wednesday night. Vienna came from behind to pick up a narrow win on home soil last week, and this is likely to be another close encounter between two evenly matched teams. Who will prevail in Prague and book their place in the third qualifying round?

Ladislav Krejci put Sparta a goal up early on at the Allianz Stadion last week. However, Vienna came out firing on all cylinders in the second half, with Christoph Knasmullner bagging a brace to give the Austrian Bundesliga outfit a 2-1 win on home soil. As we said, this could be another tight affair, so our money is going on the draw at odds of 11/4, which would be enough to put Dietmar Kuhbauer’s Rapid through.

29th Jul 2021

17:30 - Hacken v Aberdeen

Aberdeen HT/FT @ 7/2

Stephen Glass takes his Aberdeen troops to the Bravida Arena in Gothenburg to face Hacken in the second leg of their UEFA Europa Conference League second qualifying round tie. The Scottish Premiership side have more than one foot in the next round after a thumping home win last week, but Glass and his men will not be getting too carried away. The Dons will want the win in Sweden, ideally with an early goal to settle any nerves that might arise if the home side take the lead.

Aberdeen ran riot at Pittodrie Stadium in the first leg. Goals from Lewis Ferguson (2), Andrew Considine, Christian Ramirez and Connor McLennan gave the Dandies a resounding 5-1 victory in front of over 5,000 supporters. They blew Hacken away, and we can see something similar unfolding in Gothenburg on Thursday. You can get the decent odds of 7/2 for the away team to be winning at half time and full time and that’s the bet for us.

29th Jul 2021

17:30 - Santa Coloma v Hibernian

Hibernian to Win to Nil @ 11/8

Hibernian travel to Andorra to play Santa Coloma in a UEFA Europa Conference League qualifier on Thursday. Hibs picked up an easy 3-0 win in the first leg at home, and Jack Ross’s boys will be looking to complete the job at the Estadi Nacional in Andorra la Vella. As you would expect, the Hibees are the overwhelming favourites to go through and we can’t see them slipping up in this one.

Winger Martin Boyle was Hibs’ hero in the first leg, bagging a brace in the comprehensive 3-0 victory – Kevin Nisbet was also on target at Easter Road. With Hibernian’s Scottish Premiership season kicking off at Motherwell at the weekend, Ross’s side will be looking for a comfortable night in Andorra. This should be another easy win for Hibs, and the Scottish side are available at odds of 11/8 to win to nil again which offers enough value to tempt us in.

29th Jul 2021

17:30 - Levadia v Dundalk

Dundalk Win @ 2/1

Levadia and Dundalk lock horns in the second leg of their UEFA Europa Conference League second round tie on Thursday. After a thrilling draw in Dublin last week, this knockout tie is well and truly in the balance. Can Vinny Perth’s men get the win at A. Le Coq Arena in Tallinn and book their place in the next round? The home team are the slight favourites with the bookies, but this could go either way.

There were four goals scored in the first 27 minutes in a frantic first leg at Tallaght Stadium last week. Dundalk came from behind twice to pick up a precious draw with the Estonian outfit. As we touched on, this tie could swing in either direction, but we fancy the League of Ireland Premier Division side to pick up a narrow win in Tallinn. The visitors are priced at odds of 2/1 and we fancy that’s a decent price all things considered.

30th Jul 2021

00:30 - United States v Qatar

United States to Win to Nil @ 2/1

We have reached the semi-final stage of the 2021 Copa America tournament in the United States. Qatar, United States, Mexico and Canada are the four nations left in the competition. The first semi will see hosts USA take on Qatar at the Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas. Can the States make home advantage count and book their spot in this weekend’s showpiece final in Paradise?

USA have arguably been the standout team so far. Gregg Berhalter’s troops were the only nation to take maximum points in the group stage, as they beat Haiti, Martinique and Canada. Qatar have been a surprise package in the States, collecting seven points in the group and then beating El Salvador in the quarters. USA edged past Jamaica in their quarter-final, with Matthew Hoppe’s goal giving them a 1-0 win. The hosts are available at 2/1 to win to nil here and that could prove a shrewd bet as being on home turf could make all the difference.

30th Jul 2021

03:00 - Mexico v Canada

Canada Win @ 11/2

The second semi-final at the 2021 Copa America will see Mexico and Canada lock horns in a mouth-watering match at the NRG Stadium in Houston. These two teams were among the favourites to lift the trophy before a ball was kicked and we should be in for a fascinating semi. Who will get the win and play either United States or Qatar in the final in Nevada at the weekend?

The Mexicans won Group A, beating Guatemala and El Salvador along the way. In their quarter-final, Gerardo Martino’s eased past Honduras with a 3-0 win in Glendale, with Rogelio Funes Mori, Jonathan dos Santos and Orbelin Pineda on target. As for Canada, they joined USA as they both progressed from Group B, Canada as runners-up. Efforts from Junior Hoilett and Stephen Eustaquio then gave them a 2-0 quarter-final victory over Costa Rica. Either side could win this one, but we like the look of Canada at odds of 11/2.

30th Jul 2021

10:00 - Great Britain (W) v Australia (W)

Great Britain Women Win & BTTS @ 11/4

Hege Riise’s Great Britain team take on Australia in the quarter-finals of the 2020 Summer Olympics women’s football tournament. The British Ladies have had a fine campaign thus far, picking up seven points in the group stage and conceding just one goal. Great Britain are the bookies’ favourites, but Tony Gustavsson’s girls will be no pushovers in Kashima.

Britain kicked off their tournament with a 2-0 win over Chile before beating hosts Japan 1-0 in Sapporo. In their final Group E fixture, Riise’s side picked up a 1-1 draw with Canada to go through as group winners. Australia went through as one of the best third-place teams, collecting four points from a tough group. The Aussies are bound to cause problems, but we are backing the Brits to get the victory. The British win and both teams to score is priced at odds of 11/4 which is certainly the bet for us.

31st Jul 2021

13:30 - Rangers v Livingston

Rangers to Win -2 Goals @ 7/4

Steven Gerrard’s Rangers kick off their 2021-22 Scottish Premiership campaign with a home game against Livingston on Saturday afternoon. The Gers had a stunning 2020-21 season, going the entire league campaign unbeaten to get their hands on the Premiership trophy for the first time in a decade. Rangers will want to start their title defence with a routine home win here and we anticipate they’ll do that with relative ease.

The Glasgow giants were faultless at Ibrox last season, winning 19 out of 19 in the league. Along the way, Gerrard’s boys scored 57 home goals and shipped just four. Livi finished in a respectable sixth place last term, but they could be in for a tough afternoon in Glasgow. This will surely be a stroll in the park for the champions, and there is decent value in the odds of 7/4 for Rangers to win with a -2 goal handicap.

31st Jul 2021

15:00 - Bournemouth v MK Dons

Bournemouth HT/FT @ 6/4

Bournemouth and Milton Keynes Dons clash in an EFL Cup fixture at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday afternoon. With a week to go until the start of the 2021-22 EFL Championship season, this will be Scott Parker’s first official game in charge of the Cherries. Bournemouth, who reached the play-off semi-finals last term, are the clear favourites to get the win and progress through to the second round.

Bournemouth are a tough nut to crack at the Vitality, and Parker will be hoping to get off to a winning start. Russell Martin’s Dons finished in mid-table in EFL League One last season, so the hosts should secure a comfortable win. You can get the solid price of 6/4 for Bournemouth to be winning at half time and full time in this EFL Cup tie.

31st Jul 2021

20:00 - Hearts v Celtic

Celtic to Win Both Halves @ 3/1

On Saturday evening, Ange Postecoglou takes his Celtic troops to Tynecastle Park to face Robbie Neilson’s Hearts on the opening weekend of the 2021-22 Scottish Premiership season. After watching bitter rivals Rangers win the title in an invincible campaign last time around, the Bhoys will want to get their hands back on the trophy. Celtic are the odds-on favourites to start with a win and there won’t be too many punters betting against that outcome.

Hearts romped their way to the Scottish Championship title last year, securing an instant return to the top tier. By their high standards, Celtic had a poor season, winning just 22 and losing five games along the way. They finished a whopping 25 points behind bitter rivals Rangers. Nonetheless, they will be hoping to start with a comfortable win in Edinburgh on Saturday. We like the look of Postecoglou’s Bhoys to win both halves of this one at a decent price of 3/1.

1st Aug 2021

13:00 - Sheffield Wednesday v Huddersfield

Huddersfield to Win by One Goal @ 7/2

Darren Moore’s Sheffield Wednesday entertain Carlos Corberan’s Huddersfield Town at Hillsborough this Sunday in the first round of the EFL Cup. The Owls are still recovering from their shock relegation from the EFL Championship, though they are one of the favourites to get promotion from EFL League One this year. Can Wednesday start their 2021-22 season with a win in the EFL Cup?

When these two Yorkshire sides clashed in the Championship last season, Huddersfield picked up four points from the two meetings. After a 2-0 win at the John Smith’s Stadium last December, the Terriers picked up a 1-1 draw at Hillsborough in March. We can see the Championship side edging this all-Yorkshire affair at Hillsborough. As such we’ll be backing Town to win by one goal at the decent price of 7/2.

1st Aug 2021

15:00 - Aberdeen v Dundee United

Aberdeen to Win -1 Goal @ 2/1

Aberdeen and Dundee United meet at Pittodrie Stadium on the opening weekend of the 2021-22 Scottish Premiership season. Stephen Glass guided the Dons to a fourth-place finish after taking over in March last term, while United finished in ninth position in the table. With this one taking place at Pittodrie, the Dandies are the clear favourites with the bookies to get the three points.

Only Rangers and Celtic had a better home record than Aberdeen in last season’s Premiership, with the Dons winning nine of their 19 fixtures on their own patch. As for Dundee United, they picked up just four away wins, which was the joint fewest in the division. We can see Aberdeen opening up their new league season with a comfortable home victory this Sunday. Take a punt on the home team to win with a -1 goal handicap at odds of 2/1.

1st Aug 2021

16:30 - Motherwell v Hibernian

Draw & BTTS @ 15/4

Graham Alexander’s Motherwell and Jack Ross’s Hibernian do battle at Fir Park in the Scottish Premiership this Sunday. After finishing below Rangers and Celtic in third spot last term, the Hibees will be looking for another successful season. Can the Cabbage start with three points in North Lanarkshire on Sunday? The visitors are the favourites to get the victory but anything can happen at this early stage of the campaign.

Motherwell finished in eighth position last time around, collecting 45 points. Hibs had an impressive campaign, winning 18 of their 38 league games. Hibernian were the second-best away team in the division, taking 36 points on their travels. Ross’s boys will want to start this campaign with maximum points on the road, but Well will not be an easy nut to crack at Fir Park. The pair drew 2-2 in normal time in a Scottish FA Cup match when they last met, and the draw and both teams to score here is available at odds of 15/4.

2nd Aug 2021

01:30 - United States v Mexico

United States to Win 2-1 @ 10/1

The final of the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup will see hosts United States go up against Mexico at the Allegiant Stadium in Paradise. These two were the tournament favourites before a ball was kicked in the States, and the pair will no doubt put on a show in Nevada. The bookies are having a tough time splitting them, and it could go either way. We expect a close game but with home advantage take the US to edge things and claim glory.

USA beat Qatar with an 86th-minute Gyasi Zardes goal in their semi-final in Austin. The States left it late, but not as late as the Mexicans. In a crazy game in Houston, Hector Herrera’s strike in the 99th minute gave them a 2-1 victory over the Canadians. There is not a lot to split these two on paper, but the Stars and Stripes could have the edge on home turf. The 2-1 USA win is nicely priced at 10/1 and in a tough-to-call clash is worth a small wager.
